Lee Oak

A resident-owned community

Welcome Home!

Lee Oak Cooperative, Inc., is a resident-owned manufactured home community in Barrington, N.H. Lee Oak is centrally located in a rustic community with public transportation, grocery stores, shopping, movies and museums, and we are less than 30 minutes from the larger cities of Rochester, Dover and Portsmouth. Our ideal setting allows for easy access to Route 4, and we can be to Boston in a little over an hour. We are a friendly neighborhood for people who love outdoor activities and living in a small town.

Swains Lake is a short 15-minute drive, where we enjoy hiking and afternoon picnics. On a clear day, the views of the lake and the wildlife are spectacular. Just five miles from the University of New Hampshire, we are centrally located for easy access to all Barrington has to offer.

Lee Oak is owned by the Community Members who live here – we are a resident-owned community (ROC).

That means

we control
the rent & make
the rules

We own it

The Member homeowners of Lee Oak control the rent and make the rules. On April 13, 2018, the ROC purchased the land and infrastructure, such as the roads and water lines. Now, a democratically elected Board of Directors manages the business of running Lee Oak. Every Member household in the community has a say in who sits on the Board, how we spend our money, the annual budget, and whether we make changes to the rent.

We’re also part of a national network of more than 300 ROCs just like us. That membership provides us with access to expert coaching on how to run our ROC, leadership development and training, communication with dozens of community leaders who face many of the same issues we do, and more. Life in Lee Oak is truly different than in a commercially owned community – we invite you to find out firsthand how that difference makes living here so much better.
